One of my favorite ways to relax and unwind is by reading a good book, and I thought it would be fun to share that with you! Each month, I will announce the book I’m reading, so you can read along either on your own or with your local book club. I will also post a great recipe for “book club snacks” the day before, so that you have something yummy to nibble and share.
Because I’m always looking for a bargain, I will try to pick books that are available in paperback and other formats (like Kindle and Nook). Then I’ll post my thoughts the following month (second Thursdays), and we can discuss. I hope you’ll join me!
Our first book will be Loving Frank by Nancy Horan. Here’s the official summary:
I have been standing on the side of life, watching it float by. I want to swim in the river. I want to feel the current.
So writes Mamah Borthwick Cheney in her diary as she struggles to justify her clandestine love affair with Frank Lloyd Wright. Four years earlier, in 1903, Mamah and her husband, Edwin, had commissioned the renowned architect to design a new home for them. During the construction of the house, a powerful attraction developed between Mamah and Frank, and in time the lovers, each married with children, embarked on a course that would shock Chicago society and forever change their lives. Please join me on Thursday, May 15, to discuss Loving Frank. I’ll also announce our book for June. Looking forward to it!
